The brain manages thousands of systems to keep us alive and it has to do that faster than any computer can ever do, processing an astonishing one hundred trillion instructions every second. As any central processing unit does, the brain also produces heat. Without cooling, our brain would rapidly overheat, its internal temperatures rising 1O^o C every five minutes. 10 minutes without cooling causes disorientation, 20 minutes can do permanent damage and after 50 minutes if the brain is 10 degrees too hot, the person is dead.

Our body has its own cooling mechanism. But in extreme activity and extreme temperature conditions, the body’s cooling mechanism comes under a lot of stress. In such situations, auxiliary cooling on the head and body helps the body cope better with the heat to maintain health and prevent loss of life.

In extreme cold, more than 50 percent of body heat is lost through the head. Therefore, it is crucial to keep the head warm in order to preserve health, protect vital body functions and prevent damage.
